Trying Fimo Air Light for sculpting material for the first time. It feels like sculpting with marshmallows, kind of odd but I like it. It’s an air drying, water-soluble modelling clay. You can smooth with a bit of water and speed up drying by putting it in the microwave. You need to put a cup of water in with it in the microwave so it doesn’t go on fire apparently. I actually forgot this and it seemed ok but these are very tiny pieces and didn’t need much cookin’. I did put in an egg cup of water after I remembered for the last batch and discovered you don’t put a hollow ceramic dish in the microwave. At least I think that’s why it went bang. 💥 Nothing broke surprisingly but it was a bit of a boom! Anyway, Fimo Air Light is indeed super light and when cooked/fully dried has the feel of a really fine paper clay. The paws still to have a layer of tissue on so the raw Fimo is a very bright white colour. You can paint straight on it apparently but I’d imagine giving it some sort of primer would be advisable as water would likely turn it to mush fairly easily. Haven’t tested it yet though. . #fimo #fimoair #fimoairlight #paws#feets #puppet #puppetmaking#puppetmaker #puppets #making#propmaking #creature #maker#sculpting #sculpt #propmaker
