I’ll admit I’m not the neatest of workers. I dream of being one of those Instagram-ready makers with pristine workshops, perfect moulds and casts in all the right places. However, you’re more likely to find me hair askew and generally dishevelled under a pile of sticky blue towel, wood shavings and blobs of foam, with tools strewn about the place so I can never find them and picking bits of liberally dribbled rubber off my clothes. My moulds can sometimes look brilliant but sometimes they look more like the peeled, snotty skin of an exotic rainforest frog but I don’t mind as long as they work. I love Instagram for the pictures (of course!) and in particular for makers’ images of their work, so much inspiration. But I also like not being so perfect as long as it gets the job done.
