Finally, this is Alan Acorn (plus repeats). He was the favourite toy of one of the kids in Number One Newton Avenue. There were a whole bunch of other things like pumpkin signs and potato printed napkins but they aren’t so exciting to look at. The art director loved Alan Acorn so much that she asked if she could have the little runty one on the far right. He was the prototype. I said, of course! And made a little cosy woollen package for his safe transport. That’s when I get a real buzz, when someone loves something I make that much.😊❤️

This was a fun one. A Shoebox Slipper made for Number One Newton Avenue. The Dad character had lost his slipper so the daughter decided to make him a new one. As this episode was dedicated to measuring it had to be exactly 32.5cm long. I found this out after I had decorated it😬. No bother though. Bit of maker’s magic and it was instantly shortened with barely a trace. It was the googly eyes that really made it!

Another Number One Newton Avenue prop. This is a toy theatre made by the grandpa character so it needed to be a bit bashed and aged. Bit of skirting, an IKEA side table and and bit of paint and “dirt” and you get a toy vintage toy theatre in the “Guignol” style with a functioning velvet curtain. This Number One Newton Avenue is a giant trifle. Anyone hungry? This one sits at a whopping 50cm diameter. This is no ordinary trifle. It’s a Pigsticks trifle. Made with only the finest selection of translucent dyed resin jelly with yummy wooden kids’ blocks fruit, the tastiest expanding foam sponge and cream and the thickest yellow acrylic paint custard. Left a little gap at the top for the crew to add some delicious shaving foam cream and random objects to sprinkle on the top. Still hungry?

Today’s Number One Newton Avenue prop is a mad looking cactus. Not that big at about a metre tall but fairly ridiculous. Don’t ask me what species it’s meant to be! 😂 Swipe to see what it looked like before I got my hands on it. Meant to be a ridiculous version of the wee cactus in the back of the second pic. Bit of paint and expanding foam did the trick.

Today was new gadget day! A notch cutter! I like very much. It will help with pattern making indubitably. I quite like that some tools have only one very specific purpose. You may be thinking that all tools have one use and Jen, you’re crazy with such talk. Well, a saw can cut things, sure, but they can cut all sorts of things and also be a straight edge and a right angle on occasion. A hammer can bash things changing its shape or drive nails in to something else creating a join or, if it’s a claw hammer, un-join things. There are other tools that do have only one purpose too but I like my little notch cutter. It cuts notches into paper pattern pieces to make registration marks easier to mark. That’s all it does, it’s sole purpose…or should that be soul purpose? I can imagine a little notch cutter soul, being thankful everyday for being able to cut notches. ‘Nuff said.😁
