Got in a cheeky extra prop outing just before the year is up with some foam antique hockey sticks used as a murder weapon for Murder is Easy. Broadcast last week on the BBC. Always a pleasure seeing something you’ve made make it to the big/small screen. Another blink and you’ll miss it moment but it’s there. Anyone hungry? Last Buccaneers prop for me was a couple of delicious fake steaks. The character had had a bit of fisty cuffs and needed a traditional remedy to soothe his battered face. They needed a thick slab of meat but not real so I moulded a real hunk of meat and cast it in Platsil Gel silicone with deadener to give it that squish factor. Though admittedly you don’t see that so much in the scene. Have only moulded a few organic materials so this was another interesting one. Added a soupçon of theatrical blood and Bob’s yer uncle. For this wood chopping scene, I was asked to make 10 x foam axes from 2 marginally different hero axes.
