This was a fun quick paint job that I did a few weeks ago. Transforming 2 previously made and used chipboard TV boxes from foam and vinyl covered to a rusty girders look. I quickly cast some resin rivets and stippled a whole bunch of rusty layers. The tv screens would be slid in a gap at the front. Scroll to see the BEFORE pic and in situ with the TVs. They were for an event for hydrogen company, Arcola, that was happening at COP26. Apparently they were a “major talking point” and the client was very happy so all good.👍

 Last mushroom of the lot - the Common Inkcap. I think I found some of these near Victoria Park but they apparently degrade into a black inky soup so fast after picking it would be impossible to cast them so I went for the challenge of sculpting. After a few goes of working how to get the best surface texture and shape and with a lick of dry brushing, I think I got it looking pretty good.

Just look at all those little nodules! Had to shave them all off as it was proving difficult to release the cast but still gave the same effect on the outside. Another point to make - when casting pale coloured items with tiny detail, make sure your moulding material’s colour matches, i.e. not bright blue! 😱

This is a rubber cast of an actual bolete I managed to find in the woods. Was a bit of a miracle as it was a bit late in the season. I believe it was a Suede Bolete with pale stalk and tubes underneath (as opposed to gills). Very edible but only the real ones! This one is a Horn of Plenty, also known as a Black Trumpet. Sculpted in polymer clay and painted. The trouble with trying to recreate something realistic of something from real life that has many stages of development is choosing the right stage desired. Something I had not considered before. Mushrooms grow quickly and can look very different from day to day. Anyway, this is a fairly fresh version. The Horns can get quite wrinkled and go greyer as they age after harvesting. Seem more prevalent in the south of England. Cast in PT Flex 85 rubber so I could get the very delicate edges out. Should have been a much more complicated mould but time restrictions made it so I needed to just do or die.
