Following on from my previous post about Cosmograms, here is India’s Sky’s Rainbow Gate from her film and performance “The Life Cycle of Rainbows”. Final production photos of the wooden set structures I built back in September for India Sky’s Rainbow Gate and Cosmogram performance film. I built them and India and @zephyrliddell painted them. Scroll to see the structure. Made it in 4 parts that were bolted together but could be taken apart for easier transportation. Managed to get it through the doors and down stairs in 2 pieces though.?? . With a brief puppy hiatus…Back to the mushrooms…and here is my pink oysters. Cast in PT Flex 85 rubber so I could get the very delicate edges out. Should have been a much more complicated mould but time restrictions made it so I needed to just do or die. Taking a wee holiday this week at my mum’s and getting to know this wee munchkin. We sadly lost our Daisy Dog last Spring. She reached the grand old age of 15 and had a long, good life. I was so sad for the loss of her I couldn’t bring myself to post about it. She is still very much missed.? . My mum was determined that she wouldn’t get another dog after Daisy as she’s getting on a bit but she was pining so much for a wee beastie about the place the search for a new one started a couple of months later. After meeting two ladies with Border Terriers whilst out on a walk we thought they could be a good breed to look for. Not too big, not too small and they love to snuggle. . A short while later…this little bundle arrived with us just on Friday. She is named Miss Madeline Salt Spearmint or Maddie for short. And she certainly is a wee maddie! So adorable and just a joy. A wonderful addition to the family. A nine week old Border Terrier, she settled really quickly and is such fun. Learning very quickly and toilet training is…well…a work in progress but getting somewhere. An absolute delight.???? Today’s mushroom is a Morel! Resin cast from a rehydrated dried real one as you’re unlikely to get fresh ones this time of year. Came out pretty well I thought. I’ve been doing a motley range of things in the last few months. From painting warehouse walls for an advert, to building wooden structures for a film and performance, to messing about with polystyrene to make rocks for a theatrical performance as well as some other painting of wooden boxes to make them look like rusty girders. I shall eventually get pics of of the more visually interesting things up but first up - here’s some mushrooms I’ve also been making. Just finished and fresh off the skillet for some tv shorts for @drummerboy11067179. . For your delectation, a chanterelle in a deliciously piquant PT Flex rubber, pigmented with a soupçon de l’orange and a delicate notion of sienne brûlée. . Been working with Polystyrene this week. First time proper big(ish) polycarving for a theatre show. Ooh, those little floaty balls gets everywhere! Even found some in my pants after hacking at the big blocks with a reciprocating saw to cut them down to size. Thanks to @prettyscenicglasgow for bringing them down?. Sawing definitely makes more mess. The veritable polystyrene snow storm. I feel like it’s a bit like glitter; if you go anywhere near it you’ll be finding bits forever. However, my pal Phil, who is a fantastic themeing artist, managed to find time to cobble me together a basic hot wire to help with the carving of big chunks - and no snow storm. I looked at YouTube videos on how to make one myself but I’m not knowledgeable enough about electronics to be confident I wouldn’t set something on fire. Not a good look. Anyway, it worked a treat. . So on with the next bit today. The only thing about weekend working is that the building’s heating isn’t on. And though that’s not a problem in the summer, it’s definitely getting a bit more nippy. Though, I’ll warm up pretty quickly doing scrimming today. First though I need to gather up all these off cuts.
